Cakes in a Cup - Cake Pops - Cookies
My true love for baking began at the tender age of 44. Seriously! Who said, "You’re never too old to chase your dreams?" I spent my entire career in the medical field until one day, a co-worker asked if I had any interest in helping her decorate a cake. I was officially bitten by the baking bug!
For several years, after that first bake, I started baking and decorating cakes for family and friends at home (in the late evening hours, after working a full 9-5 day). Hence, the name Moonlight Cakes! So, there I was, working a full-time job, a full-time mom, and a part-time baker… my plate was full!
Word began to spread, and before I knew it, Moonlight Cakes went from a fun, creative hobby to a full-time job. I was torn… my heart was in cakes, but my comfort was in job security. I hung on to both careers as long as I could. In 2015 I finally made that “leap of faith” and cut ties with my medical career. I was terrified but excited for the future of Moonlight Cakes. It’s not every day someone drastically changes career paths at my age, but I knew it was what I had to do.
With some help from my oldest daughter, Whitney, we officially opened our first “store-front” shop! And in a blink of an eye, the years flew by, and now with a handful of awards under our belt and a TV spot on the Cooking Channel, we are now anchored in Bedford, Texas, at a full brick-and-mortar shop. I am blessed with an incredible staff which includes my husband, Stephen, of 40 years, and middle daughter, Holly. We truly are a family-owned business!
Community is everything to us! Raised in Hurst, Texas, I couldn't be more thrilled and honored to have Moonlight Cakes in the sister city of Bedford! Our customers are what keep us afloat. Bringing joy and new business offerings to our community is truly a dream come true. We now offer Nationwide shipping for our award-winning cake in a jars, cookies, and cake pops.
Now here I am today, a mother of 3, grandmother of 3, and trying to navigate a growing business in my hometown. The only thing sweeter than that is a Moonlight Cake.
