Handmade Custom Knives
Duren Knives started back in 2017: One man, one dream, and a passion for making quality knives. The company is still a one-man operation. My name is Ryan, and I am a lifelong Maine resident. I am a 38-year-old father of 3 and a husband.
The dream started with my love of knives and their artistic design. I could not afford a great-looking knife that was made in the USA, so I decided to make my own! I soon fell in love with the craft and decided to take it to the next level.
The name Duren is short for Durendal, a mythical French sword that could cut through anything, even stone. I started making knives in a tent garage on my front lawn with cheap bench sanders and a homemade forge. Now I have a small workshop in the back of my garage with heat and AC!! I'm still not well to do financially, but I am determined to make the best product with the skills I have gained and the limited tools I have acquired so far.
